Straddle is an app for learning poker: you play through hands, vote and talk them through with friends. This policy explains what information Straddle collects, how it's used and shared, and the choices you have. Straddle is for people 18 and older.
The short version
- We collect what you give us (your account and what you post) and some technical data to keep the app working.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- AI features receive only the hand and what you type about it, never your name, email or account.
- You can delete your account, and what you've posted, at any time in Settings → Account.
Information you give us
- Account: your email address, name, username and, if you add one, a profile photo.
- What you post and send: posts, hands you build or describe, photos and videos, comments and replies, votes and answers, ratings, chat and group messages, polls, and hand discussions.
- Your connections: friends, friend requests, groups, the people you follow, block or report.
- Questions to the AI features: hand descriptions you type for Describe it, and questions you ask Poker God.
- Messages to us: reports and anything you send us for support.
Information collected automatically
- Activity in the app: hands you've played and answered, your XP, streaks and progress, and your settings.
- Diagnostics: when the app opens, how long requests to our servers take, crash reports, the app and iOS version, your device model, and a random install identifier. These don't include what you write or see.
- Notifications: if you turn on notifications, a push token so we can send them.
- Purchases: your plan and credits, and the purchase records Apple sends us. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or payment details.
Straddle does not collect your location, contacts or advertising identifier, and doesn't use third-party analytics or advertising tools.
How we use it
- To run Straddle: your account, the feed, Deal Me In, chats, groups, discussions and leaderboards.
- To show what you post to the people it's meant for, and how players voted on hands.
- To answer you with the AI features you choose to use.
- To keep Straddle safe: reviewing reports, enforcing the terms of use, and preventing abuse.
- To fix problems and keep the app fast and reliable.
- To manage your plan, credits and purchases.
Who can see what you post
Posts, comments and your profile can be seen by other Straddle players. Chats and groups are seen only by their members. A hand discussion with friends is seen only by the people in it. A global discussion is listed for all players until someone joins it, then only its members can read it. Poker God conversations are private to you. You can choose to hide which line you picked from your friends in Settings.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. We share it only with services that help run Straddle, under agreements that limit how they can use it:
- Supabase, which hosts our database, files and servers in the United States.
- Apple, for App Store purchases and push notifications.
- AI providers (US-based AI companies), for Describe it, Poker God and Detailed Analysis. They receive only the hand and what you type about it, never your name, email or account details. Please don't type personal details into those features.
- GitHub, which hosts this page and the page shared links open. It doesn't receive your account information.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect players or Straddle from harm, or as part of a merger or sale of the service (in which case this policy continues to apply).
Signing up on the website
If you enter your email on straddleapp.net to ask to be a tester, we keep that email address to invite you to the beta and to send you updates about Straddle. We check that the address can receive mail, and we keep a scrambled form of your network address for a short time to stop automated sign-ups. To be taken off the list, email support@straddleapp.net.
During the beta
While Straddle is in beta, it's seeded with placeholder profiles that aren't real people. They post, comment, answer hands and appear on leaderboards so testers have a lived-in app. Plans and credits are free during the beta.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, posts, comments, messages, photos and videos, and your progress. We may keep limited records for longer where we need to, such as moderation decisions, purchase records Apple requires, and security logs, and then delete them.
Your choices
- Edit your name, username and photo, and delete posts and comments, at any time.
- Hide your picks from friends, and switch notification types on or off, in Settings.
- Block or report anyone from the ••• menu.
- Delete your account in Settings → Account. This can't be undone.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we'll honour them.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections, and access to it is restricted by account so players can only reach what they're allowed to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
Children
Straddle is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger; if we learn we have, we delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
